Quick Snowstorm hits Denver and the Frontrange

This is how the campus looked today after a quick snow storm that hit Denver. I was lucky leaving early for work just ahead of an more intense storm then expected. Meterologist predicted .5 inches of snow but in less then 2 hours over 3 inches of the white stuff was dumped on the ground causing quite a mayhem on the roads. Some of my students who left late took over 2 hours for a drive that normally takes only 25 minutes.

Open House

This weekend we had another open house at Johnson & Wales and with the help of some student volunteers I produced a range of Asian Starters. I also had interested students for a hands-on intro in the kitchen. they were producing Sushi and Vietnamese Springrolls. We do at least 6 open house events during the year where students and parents get to visit the university. Attached are some pictures from Saturday

Snowboarding

Bonnie, Samuel and I learned how to snowboard. On our recent new years trip to Summit County we spent the first day skiing at Keystone and then had a couple of days on the Bunny slope learning to snowboard. We all discovered that it is much harder for the first 2 days to snowboard then skiing. However we all had a great time. here are some pictures of Bonnie and Samuel on a snowboard

Bretzeli

Christmas time is Bretzeli time. More specific Berner Bretzeli. Just like mum used to make for years we are keeping the tradition going. The Faithfull Migros Machine we got as a present from mum is working thanks to the heavy duty Electricity Converter that weighs a ton.
This year Jesse got very much involved and was the main cook. Enjoy the pictures

Seasons Greetings

Jane, Bonnie, Samuel, Jesse and I would like to wish everyone the best for the coming Christmas and the new Year. Today we had another 4 inches of Snow followed by a cold - 17 C Temperature.
We went and took our yearly family photo.
This will be our 6th Christmas here in the USA. Who would have thought this when we first got the news that we won a place in the Diversity Lottery. Anyway the last five years passed so quickly it is hard to believe. So to all a merry  Christmas and a happy new Year
